Tirol CastleIn the 13th Century, the region of Tyrol acquired its name from Tirol Castle - the first construction phase of which dates back to the 11th Century. The historical artistic treasures which can be viewed here likewise date from that time. Two ornate marble portals and the chapel with its frescoes dating back to the 13th Century are well worth a visit. The Provincial Museum for Culture and Provincial History is also located here. The permanent exhibition is supplemented by special exhibitions changing annually. |
